QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
- Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have one of the following:
a. 48 hours of college credits, OR
b. Associates or higher degree, OR
c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

SALARY/PAY GRADE:
$21,152 /IP 2 as approved by the Board of Trustees
*Braille VI aides earn an additional $1,000 annual stipend
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Translate student worksheets, tests and overhead transparencies into Braille, using computer braille and/or Perkins Braille Writer.
- Transcribe student produced braille into print.
- Produce tactual representations of maps, graphs, diagrams and other visual media.
- Demonstrate proficiency in braille software.
- Travel between schools and braille production center.
- Inform VI instructional staff of any special needs or difficulties regarding production of student work.
- Follow team decisions, established policies and procedures, and designated lines of communication and authority.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on VI student need or location.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
- Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking and reaching
- Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
- Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
