AIKI Operator
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position is responsible for the operation of the automated Aiki equipment that disassembles laminated sheets and caul plates after the pressing process. This position is responsible for the timely transfer of laminate sheets to the finishing department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and verify press plan is complete and clear.
- Set up the Aiki breakdown line program in the counter screen of the Aiki control panel corresponding to the laminate construction and quantity as stated in the press plan.
- Operate automated equipment efficiently to process the separation of caul plates from laminated sheets without damaging the product.
- Meet established productivity requirements.
- Resolve suction problems, accidental jams, or downtime by troubleshooting controls on Aiki control panel or by manual intervention.
- Maintain continuous quality inspection throughout breakdown process and follow proper procedure to remove defective products.
- Work with engineering and quality technicians for engineering runs.
- Maintain constant communication with build-up personnel and press lead for book modifications or line down time.
- Participate in weekly preventive maintenance, maintenance of caul plates and plate sanding duties.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas including equipment, tools, and work surfaces.
- Use Lean/Six Sigma Methodologies to improve the process.
- All employees will be required to participate in training and continuous improvement events.
- Ability to work within a company registered/compliant to National and International Standards and Requirements, and contribute to those standards and requirements. For example: ISO, EICC, OSHA, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Forklift certification is preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Previous experience with automated equipment preferred.
- Previous experience with machine operation required.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
