JOB SUMMARY:
To perform and maintain proper inspection standards, methods and procedures used by the Service Center in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer's recommendations. Performs nondestructive testing to assure parts, materials and assemblies conform to engineering specifications and quality requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensures proper procedures are performed on all completed work and physically inspects aircraft, components, reviews related documentation to ensure workmanship meets acceptable quality standards, and applicable Federal regulations for final return to service and airworthiness determination.
* Performs the following as delegated by the Supervisor or Lead Inspector:
* Maintains a current file of FAA specifications, certificate data sheets and airworthiness directives.
* Makes periodic checks on all tooling, including calibration of precision test equipment as outlined in the Overhaul Manuals and the FAA Repair Station Manuals. Ensures no defective or unairworthy parts are installed on any product released by the Service Center.
* Inspects and accepts all incoming material, i.e. new parts, supplies and repaired parts from contract service per the quality and repair station manuals.
* Ensures proper tagging and identification of all parts during the maintenance process
* Evaluates inspection records, reports, forms and procedures for compliance to Quality standards
* Uses Textron and Vendor Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Manual, Structural Repair Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, EEDS/DDS, and other approved technical publications
* Develops familiarity with Required Inspection Item (RII) requirements, part 135 requirements and understands the requirements and use of the Master Equipment List (MEL)
* Performs periodic aircraft walkaround surveys for tracking of proper usage of all forms as well as the surrounding area to be free of any known hazards
* Works from engineering specifications to plan and perform several non-destructive inspection (NDI) techniques which can include ultrasonic, x-ray, eddy current, magnetic particle, and penetrant. Evaluates parts and materials to assure conformance to all quality and engineering requirements.
* Routes rejected parts and assemblies to appropriate department for disposition and repair. Alerts supervision on any noteworthy trends and issues
* Assists in the training of trainees and lower levels of certified NDI personnel
* Performs other related duties as assigned
* Processes parts, documents results, and performs equipment standardization in accordance with approved work instructions
* Carries out any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection in accordance with approved work instructions
* Conducts system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard
* Receives guidance or supervision from a certified Level 2 or Level 3 in that method when necessary
* When specified in the written practice and approved by the responsible Level 3, may perform interpretations and evaluations of specific product(s) or product form(s) for acceptance or rejection in accordance with approved work instructions
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
* High School education or equivalent is required
* A&P License required
* Requires associate degree in NDT or equivalent certification in nondestructive testing
EXPERIENCE:
· Requires minimum of 3 years diversified A&P mechanic experience on jet and turboprop 100 hour and annual service experience
· Requires three (3) months experience in nondestructive testing
· Requires completion NAS 410 NDT formal training
· Requires one Level I certification in a NDT method (ET or UT method preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Requires the use of blueprints, specifications, arithmetic and a broad knowledge of aircraft instruments and equipment

- Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable
