Summary You will serve as an Aircraft Mechanic Leader in the Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will disassemble, assemble, modify, overhaul, prototype, and repair production cell operation of hydraulic, mechanical, and related structural systems. You will remove, assemble, install, test, and adjust oil, fuel, pneumatic, high-pressure bleed air, hydro/electric, and various pneumatically and hydraulically actuated mechanisms and systems. You will install and adjust flight controls, control cables, rods, bell cranks, pulleys and fairleads. You will install tubing, tanks, fuel cells, valves, gauges, controls and supports. You will remove, install, align and rig flight control systems, rotor systems, engines and related parts. You will remove, install, and align various parts of the fuselage and airframe subcomponents and install furnishings, accessories, and cockpit enclosures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise: 1) Performing maintenance and repair on fixed and or rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies. 2) Ability to perform functional and operational test on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies and components. 3) Can troubleshoot aircraft systems sufficient to determine if functioning properly or requires adjustments. 4) Knowledge and skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment. 5) Can read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. 6) Experience as a work leader or supervisor sufficient to set the pace of production efforts, answer questions, and demonstrate proper work methods. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. Education Additional Information Work assignments require to lift items weighing up to 35lbs without assistance, and over 35lbs with assistance from others or weight handling equipment. Incumbent will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment in areas designated. Incumbent may be exposed to dirt, dust, noise, moisture, fumes, and to aircraft exhaust.
