About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the electrical installation design of Garmin integrated avionics systems such as G5000 on General Aviation and Business Aviation aircraft by assisting in the development of wiring diagrams, wire harness drawings or other technical data needed to define the electrical aspects of the installation.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Assist in the preparation and verification of new installation documentation
- Assist in the generation of certification ground and bench test plans
- Assist in creation of certification test reports and other compliance data for submissions to the FAA
- Accept and complete projects and other miscellaneous aircraft engineering duties as assigned
- Assist in electrical installation of Garmin integrated avionics system.
- Assist in the development of wiring diagrams, wire harness drawings, or other technical data needed to define the electrical aspects of the installation or to support other STC projects
- Assist installation technicians in troubleshooting installation wiring interconnects
Basic Qualifications
- Completed coursework in a core technical discipline such as Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering; or sufficient relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Must possess proficiency and Microsoft Office products
- Must be detail oriented with the demonstrated ability to work proactively and effectively and to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and deadline-driven environment
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Previous work or internship experience in design and certification of avionics systems installations.
- Knowledge of aircraft wiring diagrams, wiring routing drawings and the content required on those drawings for FAA certification
- Understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation
