Pay rate: $50.00 to $70.00
Job Description / Justification:
Airfield Inspector provides oversight and management of on-site field construction activities associated with large scale Facilities or Commercial airport construction projects. Airfield Inspector understands the disciplines and requirements needed to supervise the construction and/or inspection of work by contractors and the Owner’s Quality Assurance personnel, operating in a 24/7 airport environment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provides oversight of construction related activities on major airport improvement projects.
- Reviews contractor schedules and work plans to identify critical milestones and priorities.
- Establishes the assignments for construction professionals and support disciplines under his or her supervision for various work areas of construction operations, monitoring the progress and recommending corrective action as required to achieve project objectives.
- Reviews the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet budgetary goals.
- Monitors the baseline schedule against contractor weekly schedule updates to determine if a project is on schedule. If project is falling behind, request the contractor to explain why and what actions are being taken to bring the project back within schedule.
- Maintains oversight and alertness to potential problem areas and recommends or takes preventive action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of a project.
- Serves as a contact with client representatives, contractors, Engineers/Designers, and other personnel affecting construction related activities.
- Works with all parties involved to resolve challenges and find the best possible solution, benefiting all parties involved in a project.
- Monitors the document control systems to ensure proper testing is being performed and documented.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Requires extensive knowledge of airfield construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
- Ability to both collaboratively accomplish key Project goals and solve project challenges
- Demonstrated effective managerial capability is required, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to recognize when the plans and specifications are not being met and how/when to approach the involved parties (contractors, engineers, clients) to find the best solution for all.
- Ability to present issues to the client/owner with tact, while offering solutions or corrective actions which are in the best interest of the client/owner .
- Conduct himself or herself in a manner that earns respect from the client, Engineer/Designer, contractors
