About the Job
Answers
requests (calls) for emergency medical service and enters them into the
Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system using the appropriate protocol system
(National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatching, (NAEMD) or CEMS systems).
Monitors assignments in the CAD and dispatches calls to the appropriate
resources as dictated by CEMS guidelines. Monitors resource location and posts
units according to demand monitoring.
Answer
requests for emergency medical service utilizing provided Medical Priority
Dispatch System (MPDS) cards / ProQA for proper prioritization and pre-arrival
instructions.
Adheres
to NAEMD guidelines.
Post
units following the Deployment Monitor in an expedient manner.
Takes
requests and dispatches the appropriate resources following approved policies
and procedures.
Maintain
accurate records for ambulances.
Ensures scheduled transports are handled in a coordinated
and timely manner.
Recommends
changes to improve service, better clarify policies or procedures, and any
other matters that may occur, as appropriate.
Participates
in all required safety and back-up drills.
Performs
related duties, as required.

Essential Functions
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Current certification as a NYS Certified Paramedic or EMT, required.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card, required.
Successful completion of the Select Advantage 911 Dispatch and CritiCall, prior to hire.
Successful completion of NSLIJ CEMS training program within 3 months of hire, required.
Successful completion of the NAEMD Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification within in 3 months of hire, required.
Knowledge of all CEMS Policies and Procedures, Command & Control Standard Operating Guidelines and System Status Management/Plans within 3 months of hire, required
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, required.
