What's special about this team:
The Sciences team, located at our headquarters in Ada, Michigan, conducts in silico, in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo research programs to fuel the innovation pipeline for Amway's global Heath & Wellness brands, as well as provides critical scientific support in business sustaining of multi-million dollars' products, high-pin ABO complaints, supplier materials verification, ESH audit issues, etc. Specifically, the group where this role resides conducts research on analytical chemistry and industrial forensics, in which scientific methods are used for advanced materials analysis to solve problems encountered in various aspects of the company including product innovation, manufacturing issues and root-cause tracing, customer complaints, counterfeit identification, ingredients authentication and verification etc.
How would an intern contribute to the team's success:
The intern will help with analytical projects and potentially new method development that will increase the efficiency of the work.
An example of a typical project would be:
Differentiating similar materials with subtle differences using forensic methods. This is an important subject in root-cause tracing in product problems, materials verification, etc., which have a great impact on the business.
Required skills and background:
Desired Major: Materials science, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Physics
Desired Class Year: Rising Junior or Rising Senior
Desired Skills: detail oriented, keen observation, love to learn, passion in science
