This team offers prototypes that are technically sound, meeting defined customer needs and objectives for our Nutrition, Beauty, or Home product categories. On this team you will utilize your knowledge of prototyping processes and materials to transform concepts to high fidelity prototypes for new and creative products that can fuel sales for our Amway Business Owners (ABO's) around the globe, providing new product offerings that our ABO's want to sell, and consumers want to buy.
How would an intern contribute to the team's success: In this role you would be working on an impactful project supporting Durables and Consumables Product Development. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Project Engineers and Industrial Designers to discuss prototype requirements, develop timelines, and work interactively with the team to discuss design challenges and find solutions to deliver prototypes to design specifications. Through this process you will gain experience in building prototypes from a variety of materials, learn how to prepare and finish prototypes as well as gain exposure to a variety of departments involved in the product development process.
An example of a typical project would be: Work with project engineer to review a product design, hand sketch modifications or prototype solution, develop a CAD file for the prototype solution, 3d print or hand fab the solution and then finish the prototype to the desired specifications.
Required skills and background:
Desired Major: Prototype Engineering and Model Making
Desired Class Year: Sophomore (2027 grad)
Desired Skills:
A portfolio of model making knowledge and experience, a passion for problem-solving and crafting, and a creative eye for detail.
Working knowledge of a variety of model making materials and ability to safely operate equipment typically seen in a professional model shop including hand tools, CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, etc.
Organized and detail oriented
Communicate effectively in oral, written and visual forms
