Position Summary:
The Office Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) is seeking a Analyst 1: Research (Temporary) to play an essential role in facilitating college-wide data-informed decision making. The Analyst 1: Research (Temporary) will be primarily responsible for conducting college wide surveys and assisting data extraction from the College's Business Intelligence (BI), creating reports and visualizations using various tools.
This is a temporary position scheduled to end on March 20, 2026. It requires a 40-hour workweek and is eligible for benefits.

Position Summary:

The Analyst 1: Research (Temporary) will be primarily responsible for conducting college wide surveys and assisting data extraction from the College's Business Intelligence (BI), creating reports and visualizations using various tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing and conducting surveys to support college goals
- Support STAR's reporting efforts by assisting with data requests related to BI system
- Responding to inquiries from college departments, students, and the public related to enrollment statistics, benchmarking and related institutional information
- Using written and oral skills to present data to administrators, standing committees, and other appropriate College employees
- Provide timely responses to ad hoc survey and data requests from various units at the college
- Assist team in preparing federal and state mandated reports
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Information technology, computer science, applied social sciences, or similar technical discipline) and
- Up to one year of related experience with data analysis and reporting
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
- One to three years of related experience preferred with the following:
- Experience with developing surveys and SAP Business Objects
- Experience in a higher-education setting developing reports that utilize student data
- Experience with enterprise reporting platforms (e.g., Banner)
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- High level of familiarity with surveys tools, data analysis methods, including research principles
- Experience working with Web Intelligence, Crystal, Power BI or similar software
- Some experience working with large relational databases using SQL, R, Python or MS-Access
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the development of reports and summaries for diverse audiences
- Ability to be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic and very fast paced work environment which requires staff to handle multiple projects on tight timelines
- Strong customer service and attention to detail skills
- Strong team skills
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Public speaking, giving presentations, conducting training sessions
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public
