Job Description:
Location: San Antonio, TX (onsite)
Responsible for MDS - Mobile Data System (Mobile Workforce Management Application for Utility Field Work) application support, configuration management, system administration, hardware support, software support, maintenance, security, troubleshooting. Responsible for solution design, development, integration and enhancements to meet the business needs and project requirements. Also, responsible for documenting and developing operational procedures and provides end user support.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Install Mobile Workforce Management application and apply the latest patches in Windows, Linux and Citrix environments.
Design and develop enterprise applications that will be used across various business units to provide and maintain electric and gas service in a safe and reliable manner.
Develop detailed functional and technical design documents based on business process flow.
Develop, test, promote the code and configuration from the lower environments to Production.
Analyzes and troubleshoots application/system issues and provides resolution to ensure reliable operation and performance.
Identifies improvements in existing processes to increase the level of efficiency.
Develop customer relationships by performing site visits to various service centers within CPS Energy service area.
Work with System Operations to support restoration efforts during storm events, outages etc
Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results.
Work with Infrastructure team in MDS application server builds, OS patching, hardware tuning and health monitoring.
Work with Database Administrator to set up database backups, patches, refreshes, schema changes, etc.
Work with functional teams to integrate MDS application with other enterprise applications.
Work with business to understand their requirements, guide and advise them on best solution.
Develop mobile forms to capture all the necessary information from the field operations.
Ability to serve as Technical Lead for information technology projects and deliver on time and within budget.
Good understanding of the impact to all application areas of systems/sub-systems modifications and enhancements; has broad, over-arching understanding of impact to IT.
Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision.
Assist/guide other team members in solution design and operational activities.
Track and monitor operational metrics for management.
Work with vendors, review and approve deliverables.
Work on multiple projects, operational activities and balance prioritization for completion in a timely manner.
On-call rotation is required to support 24/7 environment and is also expected to be able to work outside business hours to support corporate needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
- Experience as a programmer/analyst in developing and supporting enterprise solutions.
- Experience with enterprise software installation, configuration, administration and applying patches in Windows and UNIX environment.
- Experience and knowledge in development/configuration changes through the various stages of the software development life cycle.
- Demonstrated experience of leading IT projects and deliver on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated experience of major application upgrade projects.
- Experience with mentoring the lower level analysts.
- Strong ability to organize information, manage tasks and use available tools to effectively contribute to a team and the organization.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision i.e. self-motivated and assertive.
- Experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Well-developed and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel, customers, claimants, insurance companies, attorneys and other agencies
- Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives.
- Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
- Experience in supporting Field Operations for Utility construction and maintenance processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing mobile and/or web applications.
- Experience with ESRIs ArcGIS and Schneider ArcFM suite of products.
- Experience with CGIs ARM Work Management System.
- Experience with ABBs Service Suite for Field Mobility Operations.
- Experience in integrating with SAP.
- Experience with Citrix, Windows and UNIX Shell scripting, Python, Oracle PL/SQL.

Minimum Education
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited university; proven working experience may be used in lieu of degree.

Working Environment
Work is performed indoors & outdoors. Manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of computing equipment, telephone, & printer/copier. Ability to travel to and from business related events. After hours work may be required
