- The role is a part of the IOC Performance Analytics team within our Integrated Operations Division.
What you'll do
- Applies advanced data and analytics skills to implement the IOC vision for an industry-leading analytics capability to assess performance and improve decision making
- Creates compelling and holistic data stories for communicating and visualizing insights around operational disruptions
- Researches current practices and industry trends and keeps abreast of latest advances in Cloud-based data analytics to solve complex airline operations problems
- Collaborates with airports, government agencies, research institutions, and business partners to enhance and accelerate the IOC Performance Analytics vision
- Establishes connections with all levels and job functions within the IOC organization, from front-line team members to senior leadership to gain valuable insights into opportunities, data, people, and processes
- Collaborates with IT Data Engineering Teams to expand our data lake of airline operational data; explore and engineer innovative data sources into self-service data lake patterns
- Acts as an agent of change to help establish American Airlines as an industry leader in operational performance and continuous improvement
- Participates in a variety of performance management projects, developing and measuring KPIs to measure and improve performance of IOC decision makers.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Decision Sciences, Statistics, etc.)
- Expertise in at least one computer programming/scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Java, C++) and experience using data analytics software tools to analyze large data sets
- Expertise in at least one data visualization tool (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)
- Practical experience in data extraction, cleansing, analysis, and visualization
- Practical experience with Big Data,Data Lake, and Cloud technologies
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Decision Sciences, Statistics, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Databricks platforms
- Experience with visualization design and UX
- 2-5 years of experience in a technical/quantitative professional environment
- Experience with KPI development and management metrics for individual and team performance
- Familiarity with airline operations
