About the team and position
Join the frontline of innovation with Carvana's Marketplaces Strategy & Analytics Team. As a key player in this dynamic team, you'll fuel the growth of Carvana’s auto auction subsidiary, ADESA, by diving into complex datasets from diverse sources. Your work will enhance speed, cost, and quality across our nationwide portfolio. By leveraging our proven strategies and collaborating with our internal network of trailblazers, you'll work directly with our largest sellers to drive pricing and performance improvements.
This person should be anxious to leverage their analytical and technical skills to make an immediate and meaningful impact on the business. We have no shortage of data, resources, or ambition at Carvana, and we are excited to bring on people who share our desire to leverage data and technology to accelerate our disruption of the traditional car-buying experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Using your Technical Chops:
- Analyze large datasets, utilizing SQL, Snowflake, or similar tools to actively monitor performance and identify business opportunities for our largest sellers.
- Utilize business intelligence tools like Tableau to help drive actionable insights.
- Build, maintain, and manage dashboards using Tableau or similar to explain/communicate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create analytically backed, engaging, story-driven analysis.
- Identify and explore data opportunities beyond our current capabilities.
- Be involved in extracting, cleansing, testing, and visualizing data using the tools and techniques described above
- Being an Awesome Stakeholder:
- You will add business value by collaborating with external clients and our Sales team to understand opportunities and performance.
- You will build products that effectively communicate the above.
- You will present opportunities and performance summaries to external business partners.
- You will work with end-users to validate data and ensure buy-in with new reporting or analysis.
- You will work with others to understand business processes and deliver data so that non-technical resources can understand the story the data is telling them.
- You will become familiar with current operations across various departments and work cross-functionally with stakeholders and other analysts.
- You will spend time understanding datasets deeply to find business opportunities.
- What you should have
- Undergraduate degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems or similar field with a strong academic record. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL or Snowflake.
- Experience with visualization software, such as Tableau (or similar).
- Curiosity to continue learning new analytical methods and tools.
- The ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and business teams and communicate across them clearly and concisely understood by all.
- Flexibility to move and shake with competing and changing priorities.
It would be great if you also had
- 2+ years of experience in analytics or quantitative practices.
- Prior understanding and experience with data warehouse environments.
- Prior experience presenting to external audiences.
- A Master's degree in one of the above disciplines.
