Overview
The Medical Technician will be responsible for operating and managing medical equipment, supplies, and machines. There may be times where they have to perform tasks during and after the surgery to ensure the medical equipment is working fine.
Job Description
• Demonstrate proficiency in using various electrical and mechanical devices that are used for testing.
• Record observations and inspect and maintain transducers and calibrate sand zero monitors.
• Identify faulty equipment, troubleshoot it on a basic level, and determine if a referral to the appropriate technical repair servicemen is needed if there are no guidelines established.
• Provide assistance in preparing for patients undergoing surgical procedure, as well as cleaning and disinfecting the setup.
• Monitor equipment during surgery, to include replenishing stocks.
• Coordinate with vendors for each specific item and place it in sterile storage areas.
• Analyze scheduled procedures to guarantee all surgical supplies are sufficient and determine the need for medical equipment.
• Dispose of supplies as well as equipment used, replace used parts with sterile ones, and replace stocks with various supplies and drugs in consideration of guidelines set by the Center for Disease Control.
• Report the occurrence of malfunctioning in any equipment to the appropriate person. If possible they will be responsible for basic troubleshooting to solve the problem.
• Monitor the patient's physical status before administering medical. After medical administration, they will record the patient's vital signs to include blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and other aspects. In case of any abnormalities, they will immediately inform doctors about the same.
• Confirm that medical depth is suitable for the procedure. They are responsible for confirming that the airway is clear for proper air flow from in and out of the patient's body by using airway equipment. After the surgery is complete, they will transfer the patient to the Post Medical Care Unit (PACU) for further care.
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of all policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
Desired Qualifications
• At least three (3) experience as an Medical Technician
• American Society of Medical Technologists and Technicians certification
• Medical Technician Certification
• Medical equipment training course
