We are actively recruiting both generalists and specialists. You will collaborate on a wide range of cases, including vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, G.I., orthopedic, IR and more contributing to our departments high volume of over 40,000 Anesthetics per year.
Here at Mary Washington Healthcare, you will experience a diverse case mix treating a large high acuity population at our main campus and surrounding facilities. You will have the opportunity to teach and mentor students, residents, and fellows, while engaging in research and quality improvement initiatives supported by strong mentorship.
Our Clinical Anesthesiologists provide comprehensive anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. This role involves preoperative evaluations, anesthesia administration, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative management to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Assessment:
- Evaluate patients' medical histories and conduct physical examinations.
- Discuss anesthesia options and risks with patients, ensuring informed consent.
- Anesthesia Administration:
- Administer appropriate anesthesia (general, regional, or sedation) tailored to individual cases.
- Utilize advanced monitoring techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Intraoperative Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor vital signs and anesthesia depth, adjusting as necessary.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to provide seamless care during operations.
- Manage patient recovery in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
- Address any complications and provide follow-up care as needed.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of anesthesia care and patient interactions.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Education and Training:
- Mentor and supervise anesthesia residents and medical students.
- Participate in continuing education to remain current in the field.
