Salary/Grade: $20.00 per hour; 76, Non-Exempt

Position Overview: The Peer Mentor will provide client-centered, trauma-informed, peer mentoring services to survivors of trafficking identified and referred through Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS). The Peer Mentor position is funded through a partnership with the City of Philadelphia DHS.
Responsibilities:Description of Position: The Peer Mentor will provide intensive peer support to confirmed and suspected survivors of human trafficking identified within the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. The Peer Mentor will develop and facilitate groups with youth survivors of trafficking, provide culturally competent services as well as their lived expertise to areas concerning substance use treatment, trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation.The Peer Mentor will provide mentorship to adult survivors of trafficking identified through self-referral and confirmed HT Assessment via licensed HT Assessor and other Case Management and Social Service Programs. Peer Mentor may also support the Victim Advocate and Education Prevention Specialist in other cases and outreach initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:Requirements:
- Peer Counselor OR Certified Recovery Specialist certification required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Lived experience of trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, substance use, and/or related lived experiences.
- At least two years in recovery and two years out of lived experience circumstances.
- Must have an understanding of the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation.
- Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.
- Bilingual, Spanish/English, preferred.
- Driver’s License preferred
- Must be computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel. Must be able to negotiate the Internet.
- Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
- Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
- This position is contingent on grant funding.
