AP specialist supervisor - Ledgent Finance & Accounting

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices and expenses. This role involves managing a team of accounts payable staff, improving processes, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Management:

   • Lead, train, and mentor accounts payable staff.
   • Allocate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
   • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.

2. Invoice Processing:

   • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of invoices and expense reports.
   • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
   • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to invoices.

3. Vendor Management:

   • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
   • Negotiate payment terms and resolve any disputes or payment issues.
   • Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors.

4. Financial Reporting:

   • Prepare and review accounts payable reports and financial statements.
   • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
   • Analyze and report on accounts payable metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

5. Process Improvement:

   • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
   • Develop and maintain accounts payable policies and procedures.
   • Streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.

6. Compliance and Audits:

   • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and company policies.
   • Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
   • Maintain accurate and organized records for audit purposes.

7. System Management:

   • Oversee the management and maintenance of accounts payable systems and software.
   • Collaborate with IT to resolve system issues and implement system upgrades or changes.
   • Ensure proper system configuration and data accuracy.

Qualifications:

Pay DOE 63K to 95K

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role, with 2 years in a managerial capacity.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
