Position Overview: The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers supervises advanced practice providers (APPs) (i.e., Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants etc.). Key responsibilities include onboarding and mentorship of new staff, development, review, and implementation of unit-specific competencies, and annual evaluations. This role works directly with staff, administration, medical directors, and other relevant stakeholders to assure appropriate utilization of all APPs, providing advocacy and integrating current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care, and technological advances into scope of practice. This position participates in the collection of research data and quality improvement of patient care within the acute and outpatient care areas.
Job Functions:
- Along with the Division Chief and/or physician delegate, the Supervisor will be responsible for oversight of healthcare delivery provided by General Internal Medicine (GIM) APPs.
- Identify APP learning needs and provide or, collaboratively with physician leaders, develop learning experiences to meet those needs.
- Assess APPs clinical performance and productivity regularly and report findings to the Division Chief.
- Complete the annual APP evaluation, provide feedback and offer counsel to all GIM APPs.
- In accordance with UHealth policy and with input from clinic leaders, evaluate and approve or deny time off for all APPs.
- Participate in the recruitment of GIM APPs.
- Ambulatory setting ONLY.
- DEA license optional to fill prescription and controlled substances.
- On average a total of [16-20] patient visits per day.
- Be available to provide on-call telephone coverage after business hours (5pm to 9am)/weekends (all day/night Saturday and Sunday) when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief and/or clinic Medical Director.
- Experience with Medicare Advantage (65+) patient population preferred.
- Completion of Medicare annual wellness exam documentation preferred.
- Knowledge of HEDIS Quality Care Gaps - review and closure preferred.
- Knowledge of Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) – review and recertification preferred.
- Physical presence required at all GIM sites.
Core Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in relevant field.
Certification and Licensing:
- Valid Florida Licensure in relevant field.
- Board Certification.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of recent experience in primary care required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in making critical decisions.
- Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
- Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
