The successful candidate should be able to perform thorough history and physical assessment. Also, able to evaluate, assess, implement plans and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to critical illness or injury. Manage ventilator settings, vasopressors and solves complex clinical cases. Performs a variety of surgical procedures after privileging by Medical Staff to include: Chest Tube, Central Line, Arterial Lines, Bronchoscopy, and assist with bedside Tracheostomy and Percutaneous Gastrostomy Tube placement.
The Division is organized into the Sections of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute/Emergency General Surgery. Currently, there are 17 surgeons and 15 APPs in the Division. Trauma and Surgical Critical Care services are performed at Atrium Charlotte - a 874 bed, tertiary/quaternary care hospital, ACS-verified Level I trauma center. Our Trauma service has ~ 7000 Trauma Code activations annually with ~ 4500 trauma admissions. Our Surgical Critical Care provides care for ~1500 patient consults per year on a variety of service lines such as: Transplant, HEENT, Surgical Oncology, Emergency General Surgery, Orthopedic, Hepatobiliary, Trauma, Vascular, etc.

Position Description:
- Rotational shifts and assignments cross covering between the Surgical Critical Care and Trauma service lines.
- Surgical Critical Care coverage: 24/7/365.
- Trauma coverage: 0600 -1900 Monday - Sunday. Trauma clinic coverage.
- Every other Weekend, Holidays required.
- Teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions.Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS preferred.
- Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served.
- 1 Year experience ACNP or AGANP required..
- Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, Masters Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
- 1 Year experience required.
