SMS has a full-time job opportunity for a candidate to join the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Application Development team at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate provides application development support to AFRL by comprehending industry standard software engineering methodologies and applying these techniques while developing and maintaining application solutions. The candidate should have experience with configuring systems to define, manage, automate, and structure business processes for an organization. As a ServiceNow developer, the candidate will play a pivotal role in customizing and expanding the ServiceNow platform to meet the specific needs of the organization while also supporting all software life-cycle activities with a focus on Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities:- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom applications utilizing coding technologies with specialization in JavaScript, CSS, HTML.
- Low code/no code environments including workflows integrating customer business rules (ServiceNow).
- Configure and customize existing ServiceNow modules to optimize efficiency and user experience.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and the development team to gather feedback and ensure alignment with requirements.
- Implement and follow Agile/Scrum software life-cycle processes.
- Integrate AFRL applications with various data sources, which include flat files and existing databases (SQL, Access, or similar).
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for managed systems.
- Maintain service life-cycle management information, and ensure new services adhere to government enterprise standards.
- Utilize government provided tools and methodologies to support service life-cycle management activities, experience with ServiceNow and/or Agility platforms a plus.
- Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
- Analyze existing code (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS) and requirements for replacement in new environments.
- Exhibit familiarity with the following Microsoft collaboration platform tools: SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, etc.
Experience Requirements:
Three to five years’ experience in software development in a web environment, back-end development, and intermediate experience with front-end user interface development. Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.
Qualifications/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Business Management or MIS related field preferred, or experience in lieu of degree; High School diploma required if no existing higher education diplomas
- Experience with object-oriented programming principles and software development methodologies.
- Familiarity applying Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides (DISA STIGs) to include the Web Server STIG, Application Security and Development STIG, SQL Server STIG, and the Cloud SRG
- Ability to apply standard software engineering methods and project life-cycle management techniques to deliver sound software and documentation.
- Ability to write and update user and administrator documentation for applications (All documentation should comply with customer specifications).
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively with other developers.
- Ability to conduct service performance assessment and scalability planning.
- Experience in assisting individuals in problem solving utilizing the potential of ServiceNow as it relates to their job function.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with business stakeholders/users.
- Possess an understanding of code design industry standards/style guides to standardize code formatting and increase peer review efficiency.
- Proven experience as a ServiceNow developer or a similar development platform.
- Active DoD SECRET clearance is required, or the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance
- Minimum DoD 8140 IAT-II (Sec+ CE) certification required
- ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (CSA) certification required. Completion of certification preferred within first 6 months of development within the ServiceNow environment.
- Delta exam to maintain certification every 12 months.
