Description:
The software developer's role is to design, code, test, and analyze Perl, PHP5 (nice to have) software programs and MySQL databases. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The eligible candidate should be an experienced Perl developer who can understand and adapt to the existing framework and build automation scripts within the application. You will be responsible for scripting card and port data on Comcast network routers. This position is coding intensive, and will require the ability to coordinate well with a team; as well as show personal initiative and take ownership of individual components of the development.

Must Have for the Position
- At least 6 years of experience in real-world Perl scripting
- Excellent knowledge of Apache and Linux configuration and command line usage
- 2 or more years systems administration in a Linux environment
- At least 1 year of experience in SQL or PL/SQL. MySQL database preferred
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written
- Set best practices for the software development process: coding standards, testing, change management, build automation, release planning and deployment
Nice to have
- At least 2 year of experience with PHP5 , JavaScript, and JQuery
- Experience using SVN or other revision control applications
- At least 3 years of experience with Agile Scrum practices, concepts and procedures
- Experience in the Telecommunications Industry
- Experience working with large data sets (data mining, data analytics, data manipulation and reporting)
What you will be doing
- Developing PERL scripts to login and obtain card and port data for all of Comcast's network CMTS, Edge QAM's and other network routers
- Provide daily router inventory information to various internal teams
- Develop service group mapping information for highly valuable internal reports
- Assist with development internal websites using PHP5, JavaScript, JQuery, and MySQL
- Assist with writing effective user stories and divide the stories into SCRUM tasks
- 70% - PERL Development
- 20% - PHP5 OO
- 10% - MySQL Development
