Performs analysis functions to assist in the development and implementation of new Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related applications, the revision of existing systems. Defines, troubleshoots, and solves software and system analysis assignments using established system analysis techniques. Competency in 1-3 of the functional areas below is required. · Hardware/Networking/Desktop software · Core Lab · Microbiology · Molecular · Transfusion Svcs · Anatomic Pathology · Advanced Features – Billing workflows/report writing/Rules · Interfaces/Middleware

1. Functions as liaison with other IS teams and business partners and maintains project tracking information. 2. Demonstrates an understanding of the technical aspects of applications, as well as the operational details, work flows demonstrating advanced clinical laboratory concepts. 3. Supports laboratory sections by providing section specific operational, computational and instructional needs that go beyond the basic support offered by IT. Defines problems, collects data and proposes computer-based solutions. 4. Provides analysis functions in support of new or upgraded vendor, in-house computing systems and special projects. 5. Participates in the development, testing and follow-up evaluation of system design and projects. 6. Logs, monitors, documents and resolves application software problems either directly or with the assistance of others (e.g. Infrastructure staff, other application staff, the vendor, etc.) 7. Maintains effective relationships to provide a climate receptive to systems improvement and to enhance understanding of the users’ business concerns. 8. Participates on user project teams, audits installed system for conformance to objectives and makes applicable changes, conducts additional training, and clarifies procedures to assure full user satisfaction. 9. Provides clinical laboratory expertise to users and keeps key constituencies informed of the latest developments and innovations in clinical laboratory informatics, adhering to both D-H and regulatory agencies standards. 10. Ability to make decisions independently, but works within a team environment to provide support to the department. 11. Handles fluctuating workloads while working within deadlines. 12. Provides training and assistance to team members. 13. On-call rotation and some project work requiring off hours, weekend, and holidays. 14. Performs other duties as required or assigned. |
- Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of relevant work experience or the equivalent is preferred.
- Organizational, analytical, and self-motivational skills are essential.
- Exercises strong verbal, written, and listening skills to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and internal customers.
- Demonstrates work qualities of attention to detail, motivation, and dependability.
- Ability to make decisions independently, but works within a team environment to provide support to the department.

- Project management and application testing skills are desirable.
- For applicable positions: Has vendor application certification/proficiency or earns it within 12 months of hire (i.e. Epic application certification). Maintains certification/proficiency in accordance with vendor requirements.
