AppliedKids is an infant and toddler child care center serving children, ages 3 months to 36 months old, of Applied Medical team members. The AppliedKids Infant and Toddler Center believes that learning emerges through children’s interests and interactions with their peers, adults and the environment. Additionally, we believe relationships are a key component of young children’s social-emotional development; therefore, we strive to provide children with a safe and engaging learning environment where they can build trusting relationships with their teachers and peers. Position Description:
As an AppliedKids Infant-Toddler Teacher, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Support AppliedKids' daily classroom operations, including child and classroom record keeping, compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, and ensuring licensing regulations are followed while supervising children at all times
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment that honors cultural diversity and aligns with Infant and Toddlers Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) guidelines
- Treat all children, their families, and team members with dignity and respect
- Collaborate with teaching team members to plan and implement an educational program that meets the developmental needs of the whole child and responds to individual needs and interests
- Ensure an engaging and varied program of activities for the children in the classroom
- Regularly meet with the teaching team to evaluate programming, routines, and curriculum
- Develop a trusting relationship with families to understand each child's developmental level and family background
- Support lead teachers in preparing reports and address concerns brought by families
- Schedule and conduct parent or legal guardian and teacher meetings, complete write-ups with accurate evaluation information
- Collaborate with team members to create documentation aligned with children's interests and developmental goals
- Assess the needs of children in care while maintaining confidentiality of records and information
- Use a positive approach to conflict resolution with both children and adults
- Meet professional development requirements to implement best practices
- Support lead teachers in preparing individual portfolios for children in the primary care group
- Share responsibility for completing administrative assignments and general classroom job tasks
- Ensure the safety of indoor and outdoor classrooms through housekeeping tasks
- Maintain a flexible schedule, working shifts between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. subject to quarterly changes, and overtime, as required
- Attend in-service and staff meetings
- Implement best practices aligned with the AppliedKids philosophy
- Remain flexible, open-minded, and willing to learn additional duties, as assigned
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education plus 3 additional semester units in Infant/Toddler Units
- Eligible for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Program Associate Teacher Permit, or higher
- Experience working with children under the age of five, preferably in a child care setting
- Knowledge of child development philosophies and practical applications
- Qualified Child First-Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
- Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing the assigned tasks, including lifting at least 30 pounds
- Act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations and to provide first aid in emergency situations
- Pass a live scan background check and criminal record clearance
- Have necessary immunizations to work in a child care facility, including influenza, pertussis, and measles
- Pass a health screening, including a tuberculosis test performed by or under the supervision of a physician, to indicate the ability to perform the assigned duties
- Caring individual who enjoys teaching young children and working collaboratively
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or similar field
- Familiar with California Infant/Toddler Preschool Foundations and California Health and Human Services' Community Care Licensing Division Title 22, Division 12
The base compensation range for this role is $22 - $29 / hour for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
