Overview
The role of the Aquatics Swim Instructor is to provide instructional swimming lessons to children and/or adults on evenings and weekends through Princeton University Aquatics at the Rec/Dillon Pool.
This position is temporary.
Responsibilities
- Instruct a group swimming lesson to teach and improve each participant’s swimming ability.
- Demonstrate skills in the water
- Provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere for the children and/or adults to learn
- Prepare lesson plans to track the progress of the level with each lesson
- Insure the safety of each participant in the class while using the aquatic facility
- Maintain positive relations and communication with each swimmer/their parents
- Evaluate the skill level of each swimmer
- Attend scheduled training
Qualifications
- Must be proficient in each swimming stroke (Red Cross Level 4 skills and above)
- Must be able to explain and simplify techniques of swimming
- Must have an enthusiasm for working with children/adults in an aquatic environment
- Class management skills
- Previous swim lesson instructor experience or WSI preferred
