Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for handling insurance account follow-up and collections. You will work within a high-volume environment, collaborating on denied and unpaid claims, identifying payer trends, and conducting appeal processes. Successful candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and the ability to handle both Government and Commercial insurance claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage follow-up on insurance claims to ensure timely payment and processing
- Prioritize accounts and resubmit claims as needed within filing limits
- Review and appeal unpaid or denied claims, adjusting coding as required for accurate billing
- Update demographic information as needed to facilitate a clean claim submission
- Research and prepare insurance credits for refund approval
- Ensure error rates align with departmental standards and policies
- Support team needs and complete additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in medical billing or insurance follow-up
- Familiarity with Arizona insurance programs (AHCCCS, Government and Commercial)
- Knowledge of UB04 and 1500 claim forms, denials, and appeals
- Experience with high-volume accounts (managing 40+ claims daily) is preferred
Additional Details:
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts starting at 6am, 7am, or 8am (consistent schedule required)
