Job Summary:
The AR Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization's accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of donations, grants, and other income streams. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a dedication to supporting the financial sustainability of our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and record donations, grants, and other forms of income into the accounting system.
- Generate and send invoices for program fees, services, and pledges.
- Monitor incoming payments and follow up on outstanding balances in a respectful and mission-aligned manner.
- Reconcile AR ledger with the general ledger and bank statements on a regular basis.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual AR reports for management and audit purposes.
- Collaborate with the fundraising and development teams to ensure proper documentation of contributions.
- Assist in annual financial audits, particularly in relation to receivables.
- Maintain and organize financial records in compliance with accounting policies and nonprofit standards.
- Support in implementing efficient AR policies and procedures to enhance financial tracking and transparency.
- Engage with donors and partners professionally to ensure accurate documentation and acknowledgment of contributions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience in accounts receivable or a similar role; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
