About the Job
Our client is seeking to add a Specification/Technical Writer to their growing team in Austin and Dallas, Texas. This person must have experience with construction development, that includes codes, regulations for local, state and federal, etc., to be qualified. This is not an IT technical writer.

Specification Writer -
Key responsibility for the Specification/Technical Writer is coordinating and producing project manuals, which includes research, code reviews, system research and assisting with material selection.
Key Qualifications for the Specification/Technical Writer:

This is not an IT Tech Writer but having that skill set can help. They are more about the construction aspect of being able to write the project manuals for the educational facilities of various types. Will require researching products and materials, performing code reviews, and assisting project designers with material selection and system research.

- 10+years of experience in the design & construction industry with 5+ years of experience as a Specifications Writer.
- CSI, CCS, or CSI CCCA, preferred.
- Technical knowledge of architectural systems
- Strong understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, education codes, required.
Must have:
- Degree in Architecture, plus Registered Architect (AIA)
- 10+ years' experience in design & construction industry
- 5+ years of experience as a Specification Writer
- Strong understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, education codes and local, state and federal construction requirements
- Software experience in the following: Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat
