Job Summary:
Generating sales opportunities for Hager's distribution network by promoting Hager Companies full line of architectural and residential products and architectural services. Call on architects, contractors, developers, end users, and owners of buildings to get Hager products approved in the specifications, creating a demand for Hager products. Collaborate with Hager Territory Sales Representatives and Hager sales management to maximize spec to quote to order pull through of opportunities. Self-produce or enlist the services of internal (Hager) spec writers as needed to provide specifications that include Hager products.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Utilize a variety of resources to identify and execute sales leads in assigned territory.
- Utilize Hager's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program to follow project from origination through submittal review.
- Collaborate with Hager Territory Sales representatives, and Hager sales management to maximize spec to quote to order pull through of opportunities.
- Educate, train, and create relationships with architects, owners, developers, end users, and contractors to improve general awareness of the full Hager product line with an emphasis on electronic security hardware, our consulting and specification writing services, and acquire critical information about upcoming projects.
- Provide spec writing services to architects, contractors, and building owners as needed to get Hager products in the building specifications. Obtain at least 52 specifications per year to average 1 specification a week.
- Maintain ongoing relationship with Hager sales reps and share information regarding potential business, notifying them of jobs that will be available for quoting as well as substitution requests and submittal information.
- Collaborate with Hager product management staff to help determine market needs.
- Attend educational seminars, webinars, and industry conferences as required to earn and maintain credentials.
- Operate within assigned sales budget.
- Give presentations and speak to large groups - doing at least 12 AIA lunch and learns per year.
- Join local CSI and/or AIA chapter and attend meetings and local trade shows.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Experience: Ten years' experience working in the architectural door and hardware industry.
Licenses/certification: CDT (Construction Document Technologist) as designed by the Construction Specifications Institute, DHC (Door hardware Consultant) or AHC (Architectural Hardware Consultant) as designated by the Door and Hardware Institute (or equivalent combination of training and work experience) is recommended but not required.
Skills: Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills and problem-solving abilities. Must have superior presentation and public speaking skills. Need to have good PC skills, including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint experience. Attention to detail, good follow-up, and organizational skills are important. Functional knowledge of applicable building codes relating to doors and door hardware, as well as ANSI/BHMA standards.
Travel: Must be able to travel within assigned territory without restrictions, approximately 30% - 40% of the time (domestic only).
Physical Requirements: Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. May involve the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of up to 15 to 20 pounds, infrequently.
