Position: Area Chief Engineer
Job Description:
The Area Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing, directing, and managing the Maintenance departments across multiple hotels in the West Texas region. This role requires significant travel to assist and support various properties, ensuring each hotel maintains a safe, appealing, and efficient Maintenance Department.
Required Skills and Requisites:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience
- Experience in Maintenance Engineering
- HVAC certification preferred
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure an adequate inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and materials for the department.
- Consistently enforce hotel and company policies and procedures.
- Schedule and conduct monthly department meetings.
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Maintain all hotel emergency systems and standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Solicit and administer all sub-contract work when needed.
- Produce annual operating budgets for payroll, expenses, utilities, and capital improvements.
- Operate all areas within budgeted guidelines.
- Establish and maintain an efficient inventory and purchasing system.
- Require three quotes before approval for all hotel expenses.
- Maintain a professional image at all times.
- Act as a resource for all departments of the hotel.
- Maintain accurate records of all Preventive Maintenance completed.
- Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner (keep inventory).
- Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
- Participate in the hotel's Safety Committee.
- Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Climb ladders and stairs as needed.
- Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Learn new tasks and adapt to changing environments.
- Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices.
- Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdowns.
- Write technical specifications.
- Plan and conduct meetings effectively.
- Assist with operating budgets.
- Must work 50 plus hours per week and be available for travel to various properties within the region.

- Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to maintaining high standards in engineering and maintenance operations.
- Flexibility to travel frequently to support multiple properties within the West Texas region.
