Why This Job
CMC is searching for an Area Director to lead our Geopier location's commercial and sales functions in the East Region. You'll be resoponsible for developing strategies to improve commercial activities, forecasting sales goals, and developing a team of Area Managers and Regional Engineers.
What You'll Do
- Oversee all sales and revenue generating functions in the defined geographic region (Area).
- Select, develop, lead and manage a team of Area Managers and Region Engineers to achieve sales objectives in assigned area
- Develop annual revenue goals and performance measurements for direct reports (Area Managers and Region Engineers), and Licensees within the assigned area
- Lead, guide, direct and evaluate a regional team of direct reports; many who are remote
- Team management – Successfully lead the engineering team by overseeing recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of engineering personnel. Additionally, conduct performance reviews and assign tasks to the most suitable team members.
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Area
- Define the required levels of promotional activities required by functional group (Area Engineer, Regional Sales Manager, et. al) for the Area
- Tracks, sets reminders and follows up on key project activities at key times, including ensuring that field sales activities are coordinated and completed.
- Define and measure key performance indicators for success
- Assist with development of annual goals and performance measurements for each Region Engineer encompassing annual operating initiatives. Review these on a monthly basis.
- Understand and navigate market, competitor, and customer dynamics to ensure market share and sales goals are met
- Travel to regional locations to support licensees and region engineers with promotional activities and technical/operational support.
- Ensure priority market strategies are aligned with CMC corporate and Tensar division goals and objectives
- Responsible for weekly and monthly forecast and communicate key metrics to track sales activities and effectiveness
What You'll Need
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in sales or business development in a related industry
- Minimum of 5 years foundation engineering design experience
- Five to ten years of proven sales management experience
- Experience in selling value added engineered solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent negotiation and leadership skills
- Creative thinking and problem solving abilities
- Ability to quickly evaluate both technical and commercial viability of opportunities to provide value to project teams
Your Education
- BS in Civil Engineering required – MS in geotechnical engineering preferred.
