GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Director of Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer and has regional responsibility for providing leadership, direction, and administration of home health care, as well as the integration, coordination, and improvement of clinical care and patient safety over a designated region of home health agencies. This position is an essential leadership role responsible for guiding the development and implementation of policies, practices, and clinical programs within the designated region. This position, along with agency General Managers and Clinical Directors, is responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience. This position will oversee Waco, Temple, Granbury, Bryan and New Braunfels.
Responsibilities:
- Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the organizations mission; specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management of business process and organizational planning.
- In coordination with the COO, provide oversight for the agencies’ financial management, planning, systems and controls.
- Support General Managers within designated region in managing agency.
- Participate in the development of individual program budgets.
- Play a significant role in long-term planning.
- Supervise, coach, and stablish regular meetings with General Managers in designated region around fiscal planning and operational management.
Responsibilities by FunctionFinancial Management
- Direct and manage annual budgeting and planning process within the designated region with General Managers and COO.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
- Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting.
- Ensure that Accounting Department requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner to internal and external parties.
Organizational Effectiveness
- Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of agency Support Services in designated region through improvements to each function (HR, IT, Finance) as well as coordination and communication between functions.
- Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
Risk Management
- Serve as a primary liaison to the Chief Clinical and Compliance Officer in addressing any compliance and/or clinical issues that may put the organization at risk.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse License is required.
- At least 3-years’ experience in Financial Management.
- Strong background and work experience in Finance.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
- Budget development and oversight experience.
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Professional Requirements:
- Maintain appropriate licensures and certifications as required.
- Adhere to state regulations regarding practice act.
- Maintain a broad base of technical knowledge and skills to perform all assigned administrative duties.
- Knowledge of hospice regulations, and end of life care services.
- Demonstrate excellent teaching skills to relate information to agency staff.
- Possess excellent communication, interviewing and counseling skills.
- Must be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and medical staff, and be able to teach and develop others.
- Must have the ability to prioritize, make decisions and set clear expectations for others.
- May have access to personal health information ("PHI") necessary to fulfill the above duties and responsibilities. Access to use and ability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.
Other Requirements:
- Computer proficiency including the ability to utilize software programs used by the organization.

- Able to engage in moderate amount of (80%) regional travel.
- Able to provide proof of valid driver’s license, if applicable.
- Able to provide proof of valid liability insurance if assignments include driving own vehicle.
- Evidence of annual TB test and other state required tests.
- Proof of Covid Vaccine, religious or medical exemption.
