Join our dynamic team in the UW Argo Float Lab, where we are dedicated to advancing oceanographic research through cutting-edge technology and innovative data analysis. Our lab focuses on the fabrication, deployment and management of Argo floats, which collect vital ocean data to improve our understanding of climate change and marine ecosystems.
**We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Assistant to support our ongoing projects.** This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those looking to start their career in oceanography and engineering. The ideal candidate will have a passion for marine science, a willingness to learn, strong technical skills, and the desire to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. _This is a temporary position anticipated to last for two years._ **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- 75% Assist in the electrical and mechanical assembly of Argo floats
- 10% Maintain lab equipment and ensure data accuracy by calibrating, maintaining, repairing and cleaning the equipment
- 10% Collaborate with team members on various research projects to ensure team success
- 5% Other duties as assigned

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
One year of experience as an Electronics Technician I OR Three years of experience as an electronic technician OR equivalent education/experience
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of electronics
- Basic knowledge of oceanographic data and research methods is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Able to travel for up to two weeks per year if required and have the appropriate passport and ID for travel or the ability to obtain the appropriate documentation within three months
- Able to lift/move 55 lbs
