Overview:
As a Food Runner/Expo at ARLO, you are the critical link between the kitchen and the dining room, ensuring every dish is plated perfectly and delivered promptly. You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating food orders, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring efficient communication between servers and kitchen staff. Your role is essential in ensuring guests experience smooth, timely service with every meal. Pay Rate $16.85 #TowncountrySD
Responsibilities:- Act as the liaison between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of food orders.
- Review and organize incoming tickets, prioritizing orders based on cooking time and ensuring they are prepared in the correct sequence.
- Inspect each dish for presentation, temperature, and accuracy before sending it to the dining room.
- Communicate any special instructions or modifications from servers to kitchen staff, ensuring all guest requests are met.
- Keep track of timing for each order, ensuring dishes are ready at the right time and sent out together.
- Coordinate with servers and runners to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of food to guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the expediting station, keeping it stocked with necessary tools like utensils, plates, and garnishes.
- Help maintain a steady workflow in the kitchen by ensuring orders move efficiently and resolving any delays or miscommunications.
- Assist in plating and garnishing dishes as needed to meet presentation standards.
- Quickly and effectively resolve any issues with orders, working closely with kitchen staff to ensure guests receive the correct dishes.
- Maintain clear and concise communication with both the kitchen and front-of-house staff during service.
- Previous experience as an expo, food runner, or in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in food presentation and timing.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a high-energy, fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to work well with a team and foster positive relationships between kitchen and service staff.
- Must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move swiftly between the kitchen and dining areas.
