About the Job
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Army Program Manager to oversee and manage programs and projects related to defense and military operations. The Army Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of military operations and program management.
Responsibilities
- Program Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects within the Army program. Ensure all projects align with strategic goals and objectives.
- Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage program budgets. Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints. Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Monitor progress against milestones and deadlines. Implement corrective actions to address any delays or issues.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects comply with military standards, regulations, and best practices. Implement quality assurance processes to maintain the highest standards of performance and reliability.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including military officials, contractors, and other partners. Provide regular updates on program status, addressing any concerns and managing expectations.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle and implement contingency plans as necessary.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on program status, including progress, challenges, and achievements. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Contract Management: Manage contracts and agreements with external vendors and contractors. Ensure all contractual obligations are met and address any issues or disputes that arise.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving program management processes and practices. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in program management, preferably in a military or defense environment.
- Strong understanding of military operations, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is preferred.
