Role Overview
As an Art Director focused on promo you will be responsible for supporting the SAD/ACD/CD in the conception, design, and execution of visual materials for a diverse range of marketing initiatives and business objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of 360 Campaigns within the category– taking work from concept to final execution under the leadership of the SAD/ACD/CD. This individual will partner closely with the entire category team and will take the lead in translating marketing objectives into key visual comps, full funnel moodboards, and lead work into pre-production and through production. They'll work closely with the photo + film production teams to plan, organize and art direct shoots, deliver selects to stakeholders and oversee retouching and editing across the campaign. This individual will deliver full funnel 360 GTM campaigns– leading internal category design teams and collaborating cross-functionally with category counterparts in copy, marketing and VM. This person should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of taking projects from creative concept to final delivery.
This individual must be a strong self-starter with a multi-disciplinary portfolio that shows experience in commercial art direction AND design executions across multiple touch points; digital, packaging, print, in-store, out-of-home, etc. They must have a keen understanding of the importance of messaging hierarchies– able to partner with copy to ensure the CX across copy and design is clear and cohesive across channels. This person is eager to pitch in on collaborative big-picture thinking, but is currently an executional master who finds satisfaction in executing work to highest caliber.

Overall Responsibilities:
- Generate clear visual ideas and concepts in tandem with the category leads and SAD/ACD/CD.
- Stay on top of all visual trends and maintain best practices – both for the industry and by touchpoint to meet audiences where they are and to develop breakthrough creative within the category.
- Support SAD/ACD/CD to concept, execute, and deliver assets that satisfy campaign objectives and tone, highlight product efficacy, brand-DNA and storytelling. Produce sketches, moodboards, and storyboards, including mocks and comps, to visualize ideas prior to shooting.
- Lead storytelling through a 360 lens; ensuring brand and message consistency throughout the consumer experience – from digital platforms to in-store
- Develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with ecomm, marketing, social, visual merchandising, and other departments whose activities intersect with
- Ensure work ladders up to the initial concept and that all brand codes are respected and will loop SAD/ACD/CD into key milestones through development.
- Present creative concepts to internal management; addressing feedback with solution-based creative thinking.
- Prepare shot lists, work with photographers and producers on all details of execution including locations, props, wardrobe and casting.
- Support SAD/ACD on set as well as art direct photo shoots from end to end, working with producers, stylists, photographers to turn the concept into a suite of assets under leadership SAD/ACD.
- Support SAD/ACD in post-production: selects, image retouching, and film editing. Set usage standards to ensure that that all creative is brought to market as intended.
- Oversee the production and execution of creative assets, ensuring brand design standards are upheld
- Partner with project management teams to ensure work is delivered to executional teams according to their various market needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with category counterparts in copy, marketing and VM.
- Collaborate with illustrators, designers, editors, and animators to bring a cohesive brand experience across all marketing touchpoints.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- BA/BS/BFA degree in Graphic Design or similar
- 8+ years experience working in relevant field in an in-house or in an agency setting. Beauty or Fashion experience preferred.
- Software requirements: Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effect, Premiere, Figma
- Deep knowledge of the print and digital world– experience in both ecomm, paid media, and social; but similarly comfortable working in print, packaging, and in-store.
- Understands file preparation/die lines/print layouts and printing processes for print, in-store and out-of-home.
- Hands-on experience in studio and lifestyle art direction, graphic design, digital animation, and print production.
- Master graphic technician: concerned with resolutions, color, size accuracy and production values.
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely – ability to provide and receive constructive feedback that is necessary to improve creative.
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Thoughtful, empathetic, and positive attitude with infectious personal drive that energizes others.
- A proactive, self-starter work ethic with the ability to operate independently within a small team.
- Must be highly collaborative with the ability to understand the objectives of all cross-functional partners and work toward solutions that meets that need and upholds the creative integrity of the brand.
