Politicus Members (Positions Below)
Politicus is a dynamic university publication committed to fostering insightful discourse on contemporary issues. The team is composed of dedicated individuals who contribute to various aspects of the publication, from content creation to event planning, ensuring that Politicus upholds its mission and reaches its audience effectively. Each role within the publication is essential to maintaining the quality, diversity, and impact of our work.

Time Commitment and Responsibilities
8-month term from September 2024 to April 2025 with a time commitment of 2-4 hours/week.
- Editorial Board (8-10 Members):
The Editorial Board is responsible for guiding the publication’s editorial vision, ensuring that all content aligns with Politicus' mission and standards. They work collaboratively to review submissions, set themes, and uphold the quality of the publication.- Content Review and Curation: Collaborate to select and approve article submissions, ensuring alignment with editorial standards and themes.
- Editorial Vision and Quality Control: Provide guidance on editorial direction, ensuring consistency and excellence in published content.
- Assistant Editor (1 Position):
- The Assistant Editor supports the Editor-in-Chief by managing the article submission process, coordinating edits, and liaising with writers. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of content production and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Submission Management and Coordination: Oversee the submission process, ensuring timely reviews and communication with contributors.
- Editorial Support: Assist the Editor-in-Chief in coordinating edits and revisions, ensuring content is polished and meets publication standards.
- The Assistant Editor supports the Editor-in-Chief by managing the article submission process, coordinating edits, and liaising with writers. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of content production and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Copy Editors (4-5 Members):
- Copy Editors meticulously review articles for grammar, punctuation, and adherence to the Politicus style guide, ensuring a polished final product. They also help maintain consistency and accuracy across all published content.
- Content Proofreading: Review articles for grammatical accuracy, punctuation, and adherence to the style guide.
- Consistency and Quality Assurance: Ensure uniformity in tone, style, and accuracy across all published materials.
- Copy Editors meticulously review articles for grammar, punctuation, and adherence to the Politicus style guide, ensuring a polished final product. They also help maintain consistency and accuracy across all published content.
- Marketing Director (1 Position):
- The Marketing Director leads the development and execution of marketing strategies to increase Politicus' visibility and readership. They oversee the marketing team, manage campaigns, and ensure that the publication's voice is effectively communicated to its audience.
- Strategic Marketing Planning: Develop and implement marketing strategies to boost readership and engagement.
- Team Leadership and Campaign Management: Oversee the marketing team, ensuring campaigns align with Politicus' brand and mission.
- The Marketing Director leads the development and execution of marketing strategies to increase Politicus' visibility and readership. They oversee the marketing team, manage campaigns, and ensure that the publication's voice is effectively communicated to its audience.
- Events Director (1 Position):
- The Events Director is responsible for planning and executing events that promote Politicus and engage the university community. This role involves working closely with the marketing and editorial teams to create events that reflect the publication's brand and mission.
- Event Planning and Execution: Lead the organization of events that promote the publication and foster community engagement.
- Collaboration and Promotion: Work with marketing and editorial teams to ensure events align with the publication’s vision and reach the intended audience.
- The Events Director is responsible for planning and executing events that promote Politicus and engage the university community. This role involves working closely with the marketing and editorial teams to create events that reflect the publication's brand and mission.
- Marketing Coordinator (2-4 Positions):
- Marketing Coordinators assist in implementing marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, email newsletters, and outreach programs. They work under the guidance of the Marketing Director to enhance Politicus' presence across various platforms.
- Campaign Support and Execution: Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing materials across social media and other platforms.
- Outreach and Engagement: Help expand Politicus' reach through targeted outreach and engagement initiatives.
- Marketing Coordinators assist in implementing marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, email newsletters, and outreach programs. They work under the guidance of the Marketing Director to enhance Politicus' presence across various platforms.
- Events Coordinator (2-4 Positions):
- Events Coordinators support the Events Director in organizing and managing events that build Politicus' reputation and connect with the audience. Their responsibilities include logistics, promotion, and on-site management during events.
- Event Logistics and Coordination: Assist in the planning and organization of event logistics, ensuring smooth execution.
- On-Site Management and Support: Provide on-site event support, handling setup, registration, and attendee engagement.
- Events Coordinators support the Events Director in organizing and managing events that build Politicus' reputation and connect with the audience. Their responsibilities include logistics, promotion, and on-site management during events.
- First Year Intern (2-3 Positions):
- First Year Interns provide support across multiple departments, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the publication's success. This role offers exposure to various aspects of Politicus, from editorial work to marketing and events.
- Departmental Support: Assist with tasks across editorial, marketing, and events departments, gaining a broad understanding of publication operations.
- Learning and Development: Engage in learning opportunities to develop skills relevant to various aspects of the publication.
- First Year Interns provide support across multiple departments, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the publication's success. This role offers exposure to various aspects of Politicus, from editorial work to marketing and events.
- EDII Director (2 Positions):
- The EDII Director ensures that Politicus embodies principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity in its content, operations, and outreach. This role involves advocating for underrepresented voices and fostering an inclusive environment within the publication.
- Advocacy and Representation: Promote the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives in all aspects of the publication.
- EDII Initiatives: Lead initiatives that advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity within the Politicus community and content.
- The EDII Director ensures that Politicus embodies principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity in its content, operations, and outreach. This role involves advocating for underrepresented voices and fostering an inclusive environment within the publication.
