Job Description:
- Your work will involve assembling, splicing, testing, and packaging fiber optic cables and components, with a focus on delivering superior performance and reliability. This role demands a deep understanding of specialty optical fibers, precision techniques, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure that our products not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

Fiber Optic Assembler Duties:
- Custom Assembly: Assemble and terminate fiber optic cables and connectors, including specialty and large-core fibers, ensuring each assembly meets specific optical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
- Precision Connecting: Attach single or multifiber connectors, including custom SMA connectors, to fibers and cables, utilizing advanced techniques such as epoxy-less termination and air gap methods for high-power laser delivery and other demanding applications.
- Fiber Packaging: Select and apply appropriate sheathing, jacketing, armoring, and bend-limiting options to protect optical fibers based on environmental and safety requirements of each project.
- Winding and Spooling: Perform precision winding and spooling of optical fibers, particularly for delay line, reference line, and dispersion-compensation applications, ensuring optimal performance through controlled tension and accurate package design.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing of fiber optic assemblies, including single mode and multimode fibers, high-temperature fibers, and polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers, to ensure they meet elevated proof testing standards and perform reliably under specified conditions.
- Specialized Termination Techniques: Utilize a variety of termination techniques, such as cleaved, polished (flat, PC/APC, high-angle), and custom ferrule drilling, to create high-performance fiber optic assemblies that are precisely tailored to customer specifications.
- Problem-Solving and Innovation: Collaborate with the engineering team to understand and address complex challenges, leveraging your expertise in optical fibers to contribute innovative solutions and continuous improvements to our product offerings.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, test results, and material usage, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Customer-Focused Solutions: Engage with the broader team to understand customer needs, ensuring that every fiber optic assembly is crafted to provide the best possible performance and reliability for the intended application.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements Fiber Optic Assembly position:
- Experience in fiber optic assembly or similar products preferred but not required.
- Must have good hand eye coordination, manual dexterity and ability to work with small parts.
