Job Title: Assembly Coatings Supervisor (1st Shift)
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 (plus overtime eligibility)

Job Summary
The Assembly Coatings Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of an assembly and coatings department, managing production schedules, labor efficiency, and equipment maintenance to achieve production goals. The role requires strong leadership, a thorough understanding of wet and powder coating processes, and experience within a unionized work environment. The successful candidate will drive process optimization, training, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Oversight & Scheduling:
- Assign and manage daily work assignments, ensuring labor hours align with the monthly production plan.
- Schedule daily and weekly shifts to meet production goals, optimizing resources within a union shop environment.
- Equipment Maintenance & Process Improvement:
- Verify and enforce preventive maintenance on all coating and assembly equipment.
- Review daily efficiency reports and implement improvements to maintain optimal run efficiency.
- Staff Performance & Training:
- Monitor set-up and run times, modifying as needed to optimize production flow.
- Train new and existing employees on coating and assembly processes, covering topics such as coating mix ratios, setup requirements, and quality standards.
- Inventory Management & Procurement:
- Conduct weekly cycle counts of coatings, primers, and supplies to ensure sufficient inventory for production needs.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to request materials as needed based on monthly production schedules.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate daily with production support staff to address material availability, tooling needs, equipment issues, and personnel requirements.
- Work closely with engineering teams to assess equipment needs, troubleshoot existing products, and support new product releases.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring team adherence to OSHA, EPA, and internal safety standards.
- Serve as a member of the safety committee, helping to promote a culture of safety.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify new equipment needs and develop justifications for capital investments to improve efficiency.
- Regularly assess and refine departmental processes to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in an assembly and coatings department.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience using ERP systems for managing work orders, labor efficiency, and inventory.
- Coating Expertise: Proficiency with wet paint and powder coat processes, including application and quality assurance.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to review, interpret, and optimize run and setup times from production data.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations and experience ensuring workplace adherence.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well independently and within a team.
