Position Summary
The Assembly Technician I is part of a team of employees who assemble an entire product or individual components of a manufactured item. This is an entry level assembly position in the AC/DC Department.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
• Safety training, including job safety analysis (JSA on all equipment); quality, and tool training
• Understands basic quality and testing checks
• Packages finished product for safe shipping
• Organizes parts and prefab parts by job and work order
• Maintains an organized work area and use of equipment, following 5S standards
• Inspects finished products for defects and ensures quality standards
• Continuous improvement to create work class products
• Performs Prefab Tasks, including following the prefab checklist, din rail prep, busbar prep, fuse assembly prep, disconnect prep, enclosure prep (holes, handles, ground wire, glands, and Unistrut), and wire cut and termination
• Performs Build Tasks, including organizing carts for build, assembling back plates at stations, refers to packet for parts and Engineer's directions, reads/understands drawings, references the BOM for parts, references first article, references work instructions, correct orientations for all hardware and BOM parts, corrects torques and understands guidelines; whip jobs, including proper placement of negative and positive glands, land wire capturing all wire strands, and corrects torques and understands guidelines
• Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Plant Manager
• Maintains safe, clean working environment in compliance with SolarBOS policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary responsibility satisfactorily. Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience)
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 Years of Experience in Production/Assembly
Technical Skills
- MS Office
- ISO preferred, but not required
- Hand and Power Tools
- Reads Tape Measurements
- Basic Mathematics
- Troubleshooting Problems
Physical Requirements
- Able to squat, bend and lift up to 65 lbs. without assistance.
- Able to operate equipment, including forklifts, safely and able to understand and follow safety protocols.
- Able to stand for up to 10 hours per day and to walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to work in a dynamic, non-climate-controlled facility with fluctuations in temperature.
