Available Shifts:
4th Shift - Friday-Sunday - 5:00 am to 5:00 pm
Pay: $24.49/Hour plus $1.50/Hour Shift Differential
A Brief Summary of This Position
The Assembly Welder assembles and fits or welds together pole shaft halves to form a complete unit. This position will be required to work on projects alone as well as in a team environment.
Essential Functions
- Assembles large poles that requires precision.
- Fuses (welds) metal structural components together by means of arc welding using one process in the assembly of steel electrical poles, substations and other structures.
- Assembles structural units ensuring alignment and proper symmetry of structure to be prepared for the subarc welding process.
- Must be able to safely operate overhead crane.
- Must be able to safely flip pieces with an overhead crane and use hooks or plate clamp to align together with other pieces.
- Work may include a limited range of standard products requiring some fitting and/or welding.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in a non-temperature controlled environment.
- Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
- Works under conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits are essential for subsequent assembly operation.

- Must be able to work independently, as well as with other employees to complete job.
- Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
- The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- At least 1 year of overhead crane experience.
- Must be certified AWS D1.1 in the 1G and 2G position.
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
- The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
- One (1) to three (3) years of previous experience in a professional welding position
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.

- Able to read and comprehend routings and blueprints
Educational Background
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
