Job Summary
As an Asset Management - Real Estate Debt Lead Investment Specialist within J.P. Morgan Asset Management, you will play a lead role in prospecting for new clients, deepening existing client and consultant relationships, and providing thought leadership. You will be responsible for our Real Estate Debt platform and will report to the Head of Real Estate Client Strategy. We are seeking an experienced leader with deep expertise in Real Estate debt markets and an understanding of institutional asset management clients. Your knowledge of insurance clients and their tax, accounting, regulatory, and capital needs will be highly valued.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a deep knowledge and fluency about Real Estate Debt markets, macroeconomics, our investment outlook, our portfolio construction methodology, individual portfolio holdings, and how individual mandates are structured. Have the ability to speak to provide a market update, share our outlook, and describe our portfolio positioning to clients in a similar capacity to the underlying portfolio managers
- Maintain our Real Estate Debt book of business with our global client base (including insurance companies, corporate pension funds, state and government sponsored investment funds, endowments and foundations, as well as other investors) via diligent coverage, relaying market views, addressing operational concerns, delivering reporting, and producing thought leadership.
- Partner closely with our institutional sales force to initiate relationships with new clients and expand our engagements with existing clients. This includes establishing annual strategic plans, proactively maintaining contact, engaging field consultants, delivering account reviews, executing sales activities (e.g. drafting RFP responses, crafting & presenting pitches, etc.), onboarding new mandates, and structuring customized solutions for clients.
- Understand client investment goals and objectives and provide thought leadership on solutions to meet their investment objectives. This should extend into developing new offerings that are specifically designed around our clients' bespoke structuring, risk/return preferences, and other needs.
- Keeping abreast of the competitor landscape and provide insights to drive messaging on how to position our strategies to best compete. Proactively identify opportunities to pursue new business opportunities across client segments and establish external relationships with the appropriate senior investment professionals at these organizations
- Establish excellent collaborative working relationships across the broader JPMAM ecosystem, including Client and Consultant Advisor teams, investment teams, research, portfolio managers, investor relations, product development, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders. Maintain diligent records in our internal databases to support client relationships, management oversight, and other data needs.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Minimum 10+ years of experience and proven success in raising capital for real estate investment strategies, or equivalent investment experience
- Network of relationships with Eastern and Central U.S. institutional real estate investors
- Ability to deliver concise, persuasive, and technically sound new business presentations and investment reviews including market outlook, fund/portfolio and underlying investments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and intellectual curiosity in the subject matter
- Strong relationship building skills applicable to existing clients, prospective clients and internal stakeholders across REA and the broader firm
- Strong understanding of regional economic forecasts and the ability to interpret them relative to the performance of all products being represented by the Real Estate Debt team
- Ability to incorporate current economic forecast information from internal and external sources into asset class and fund positioning communications
- Working knowledge of portfolio construction and strategic asset allocation for institutional investors, particularly insurance clients and their unique regulatory & capital needs
- Strong work ethic, results oriented and willingness to travel regularly to meet with clients globally
- Highest ethical values in professional and personal conduct
- Undergraduate degree in business or related field

New York,NY $200,000.00 - $350,000.00 / year
