About the Job
The key responsibility of the Asset Recovery Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations of the Steel Structures recovery department and a team of Asset Recovery Specialists. This will include day-to-day management of the retrieval operation of Steel Structures, management and execution of work standards, continual development of robust training and execution of motivational strategies. A key responsibility is to promote enhancement of team performance and elevating dealer service standards. The Asset Recovery Manager will ensure the effective management of asset risk by coordinating with senior management, sales staff, inventory and risk management; and by fostering relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OTMs), dealers, and contract drivers.
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Manage a team of Recovery Specialists in the pursuit of retrieving company assets, re-engaging customers in contracts, or moving accounts forward for pre-legal and legal processes.
- Spearhead the onboarding process for contract drivers, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.
- Identify gaps in geographical coverage of contract drivers and supervise methods of attracting new contract drivers.
- Conduct a comprehensive weekly review of past due retrieval cases to prioritize and optimize asset recovery efforts.
- Manage the invoice process and extensions permitted for Buyback dealers; holding them to account on expired retrieval requests.
- Authorize actions such as knock fees, recovery fees, and repair costs. Work with the inventory Asset Manager to proactively suggest price changes for certain retrieved inventory.
- Maintain retrieval rates within budgeted parameters and sustain fees paid to dealers and contractors.
- Review accounts recommended for pre-legal to ensure the accounts have been worked sufficiently prior to transfer, safeguarding the company's interests.
- Implement proactive measures to mitigate losses attributable to fraud and protect company assets; work on expedited pickup requests with dealers and contractors to pick up when identified.
- Assist in evaluating staffing needs and recommend hiring decisions to maintain optimal team levels.
- Manage lot to lot transfers and assist in relocating assets when needed.
- Provide content and prepare reports for management updates regarding performance, personnel, and outstanding issues.
- Keep the team informed about upcoming changes in systems and processes, facilitating a seamless transition.
What you need:
- Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities to decipher complex data and derive actionable insights, contributing to informed decision-making.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with 3-5 years' experience in a similar leadership role within an asset finance environment with knowledge in collections, returns, repossession, litigation, and remarketing processes.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and leverage a high-level perspective to drive achievement of business objectives.
- Showcase superior organizational and time management skills to manage multiple issues concurrently.
- Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adept at adapting to evolving priorities and requirements.
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint, for effective communication and data analysis.
Required Work Experience:
3-5 years' experience in a similar leadership role within an asset recovery (lease purchasing/rental) environment with knowledge in Steel Structures, collections, returns, repossession, litigation, and remarketing processes.
