Job Summary
The purpose of the Asset Risk Analyst role is to own and operate the risk tools within the Asset Knowledge Management group in support of the assigned asset class. The primary output of the risk tools will support the risk register and business planning process as well as Transmission and Distribution Integrity compliance process, which is owned by the Asset Class Owners. This role should collaborate with the asset class team to question model output and continuously look for improvements to the risk tool.
Essential Functions
- Executes processes on risk assessment tools as instructed including loading data and running risk or analytical tools.
- Learns established Risk Assessment procedures
- Works with other analysts and leaders to load, analyze, and compile data.
- Work is closely supervised, and is routine or follows standard procedures
- Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems
- Support the development, population, maintenance, and use of each asset class risk register in partnership with Asset Class Owners
- Perform probabilistic analysis for the assets assigned and quantify risk scores in a way that can be compared across asset classes
- Prepare risk tool outputs that translate technical details into actionable insights that inform senior leadership’s decision making
- Perform risk tool maintenance and execute continuous tool improvement efforts as the application owner
- Collaborate with Data Owners and Asset Program Owner(s) on recommended changes to improve asset data availability and quality, bringing the perspective on how the change will improve risk modeling capabilities
- Collaborate with Asset Risk Analysts supporting other asset classes to understand their model improvements opportunities and to understand model outputs to consider transfer risks between asset classes
- Stay current on leading industry practices for risk assessment, including learning from other industry applications of risk modeling approaches to gain insights from more mature industries
Asset Risk Analyst 1
Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree in job-related discipline
- 0-3 years Experience
- Data analysis or programming experience
- Experience building and/or using complex quantitative models
- Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and listening communication skills
- Ability to understand and analyze tabular and geospatial data
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Graduate Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience building and/or using probabilistic models
- Experience working with Business Intelligence tools
- Experience in programming or coding (Python, R, SQL, etc)

Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-related discipline
- Experience building and/or using complex quantitative models
- 3-7 years of experience
- Data analysis, programming, risk analysis, utility knowledge, GIS
- Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and listening communication skills
- Has basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience
- Ability to analyze tabular and geospatial data. Debug existing models and data sources. Incorporate data sources into modeling.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Graduate Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience building and/or using probabilistic models
- Leadership experience
- Experience working with Business Intelligence tools
- Experience in programming or coding (Python, R, SQL, etc)

Sr Asset Risk Analyst
Essential Functions
- Owns risk assessment process. Owns building and updating of models. Owns building and maintaining dashboards.
- Owns development and maintenance of Risk Assessment Procedures
- Works with business partners, Asset Class Owners, and Subject Matter Experts to drive risk informed decision making across NiSource.
- Support the development, population, maintenance, and use of each asset class risk register in partnership with Asset Class Owners
- Perform probabilistic analysis for the assets assigned and quantify risk scores in a way that can be compared across asset classes
- Prepare risk tool outputs that translate technical details into actionable insights that inform senior leadership’s decision making
- Perform risk tool maintenance and execute continuous tool improvement efforts as the application owner
- Collaborate with Data Owners and Asset Program Owner(s) on recommended changes to improve asset data availability and quality, bringing the perspective on how the change will improve risk modeling capabilities
- Collaborate with Asset Risk Analysts supporting other asset classes to understand their model improvements opportunities and to understand model outputs to consider transfer risks between asset classes

- Solves difficult and non- routine problems that require analysis to understand
- Works under limited supervision for non-routine situations, and may be responsible for leading daily operations including training, delegating and reviewing the work of lower-level employees
Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-related discipline
- Job-related experience, 7+ years
- Data analysis, programming, utility knowledge, GIS, integrity management, business intelligence dashboard development, strong science and mathematics background, leadership
- Experience building and/or using complex quantitative models
- Ability to analyze tabular and geospatial data. Incorporate data sources into modeling. Build and debug models from scratch. Satisfy ad-hoc data analysis requests. Obtain and model data from non-standard sources. Work across departments to support risk reduction goals.
- Has advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education.
- Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and listening communication skills
