Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs. JOB SUMMARY: Development and application of advanced magnetic resonance imaging technique. Develop and apply image analyses methods. Perform brain image analysis to study neurological diseases. KEY RESPONSIBIITIES: + Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program. + Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research. + Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development. + May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate. + Performs other responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + PhD + OR Master's degree and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab . + OR Bachelor's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab. + Laboratory experience should be related to area of assignment. + Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + The candidate should have a PhD degree in a quantitative/computational field including mathematics, computer science, physics, and engineering. + Previous working experience on developing new MR acquisition sequences and/or analysis methods using either conventional or deep-learning-based approaches is preferred. + Track-records in publishing peer-reviewed journals in their fields of study. + Most critical characteristics to be successful in the position are motivations to excel, solid mastery of quantitative tools and skills in problem solving. + Candidates with these characteristics but no prior experience in medical imaging are also encouraged to apply. + The candidate should also demonstrate independent research capabilities and have good organizational and inter-personal skills. + Excellent proficiency with Matlab, python, and/or C/C++ programming language is required. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
