Viterbo University is accepting applications for an academic year, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Counselor Education in the College of Engineering, Letters and Sciences. The position is a full-time, in-person appointment with a 10-month contract. Applicants with either a clinical mental health counseling or school counseling background are encouraged to apply. The anticipated start date is August 2024.
General Requirements/Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a CACREP accredited Counselor Education and Supervision program.
- Able to receive terminal licensure in the state of WI within one year of employment.
- Provide dissertation support to doctoral students.
- Teaching experience in graduate education using face-to face and online or hybrid learning modalities.
- Strong professional identity as a counselor educator.
- Competence in working with students from diverse populations and background. Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of clinical experience in either school counseling or clinical mental health counseling.
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
- Interest in assisting with clinical coordination.
- Interest in securing and working with externally funded grants.
- Experience with CACREP accreditation.
- College teaching experience.
Departmental Information: The counselor education department has five full time faculty members. The program offers two 60-credit hour master's degrees in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. In addition, the program offers an Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. The program has a dynamic faculty who are active and engaged within the counselor education profession. The counseling programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Other Education Programs (CACREP). The school counseling program has been approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching core courses in counselor education. Providing services to the university, participating in department leadership, advising students, and providing community service. Rank and Salary: Appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor with a nine-month academic year appointment beginning August of 2024. Salary is competitive with other private institutions of similar size, mission, and educational philosophy.
