Are you passionate about sports medicine and looking to make a meaningful impact on student-athletes' health and performance? Canisius University is seeking a dedicated Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our Division I athletics team. This dynamic, 11-month, modified full-time position offers the opportunity to work with both men’s and women’s sports, including primary coverage for women’s soccer and baseball.
As part of our Sports Medicine team, you’ll play a key role in providing top-notch care for student-athletes, from injury prevention and emergency care to rehabilitation and recovery. You’ll also have the chance to collaborate with coaches, physicians, and performance staff to ensure the well-being of our athletes and help them succeed both on and off the field.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide comprehensive athletic training services to student-athletes, including injury evaluation, emergency care, and rehabilitation.
- Work closely with coaches, sports medicine staff, and team physicians to coordinate care and ensure safe practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
- Travel with assigned teams for events and competitions.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department by providing expert support to student-athletes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Master’s Degree (required).
- Previouscollegiate or secondary school experience is a plus.
- Current BOC certification and eligibility for NYS Education Department Certification.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certificationrequired.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse group of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- A valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one if relocating to NYS).
