The Opportunity:
The delivery supervisor role is integral to success of our daily operations at the branch. To be successful in this role, you need excellent interpersonal skills, experience in the trucking industry and general business acumen. In this role you will lead a team of DZ Drivers and be their first point of contact as you support them in accomplishing their routes for the day. Keeping safety at the forefront of all actions, you will ensure that you set the example for your team and demonstrate the Parkland values.
Responsibilities:
• Kick off the day with a Tier 1 meeting where you host a safety moment and review the previous day with the team. Ensure all staff are fit for duty, safe and confident for the day. Answer any questions, discuss any issues and action takeaways from the meeting.
• Review the metrics from the day before, including litres per kilometre delivered, pre-trip inspection reports and worksite safety observation notes and update dashboard for senior leadership team.
• Liaise with Dispatcher and Planner to ensure scheduling of drivers will meet demand needs, while ensuring compliance with Hours-of-Service legislation.
• Review timecards/ requests for time off and ensure hours are logged in log book correctly
• Promote corporate objectives such as Quarterly Safety Incentive Program, Parkland BOLD behaviours, Parkland Pledge Dollars etc.
• Meet drivers at various customer locations to preform worksite observations and provide coaching and guidance when necessary.
• Assist with customer escalations as necessary while always providing excellent customer service and prompt resolution.
• Ensure consistent adherence to safety protocols including government mandated compliance policies.
• Work with the sales team to ensure drivers will be able to safely deliver product to newly obtained customers.
• Participate in recruitment efforts to build the team as needed, assist with onboarding, training and ensuring new hires complete the driver mentor program.
• Ensure fleet remains in working order by working with the local garage to ensure preventative maintenance schedule is adhered to and quickly actioning any concerns noted on the pre-trip inspection forms.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years previous supervisory experience preferred
- Travel required between Ajax and Richmond Hill.
- G license and clean driving abstract required, DZ license an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
- Completion of post-secondary or work-related certifications an asset.
- Three years trucking industry experience preferred.
- Previous Fuel, or Oil industry experience an asset
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Superior customer service and problem resolution skills required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills required.
- Weekend and Night availability may be required.
