Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach, coach, advise, supervise, and care for student athletes. This position will work in partnership with the head coach to ensure alignment with the direction and philosophy of the Hockey program. This position will also work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the School and work collegially with administrators and fellow coaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following)
The School seeks to hire someone who takes initiative and responsibility for developing, nurturing, and growing our Ice Hockey program. A strong candidate will be extremely organized and will have the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. Additionally, they should be prepared to work on a high performing team and have demonstrated the ability to maintain a positive attitude in all situations. They should also be able to communicate effectively with all school constituents and display strong, positive interpersonal skills.
General Schedule
Three to eight hours of practice per week, based on ice availability. Weekly games with some tournaments both local and travel. Weekends and extended hours are required.
Hourly Rate: $17/hour
Total Earning Potential: $5,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following)
- Assist the Head Coach of US DIII Ice Hockey Team (Fall & Winter season)
- Work collaboratively with the Head Coach.
- Fulfill coaching duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Embrace the School’s athletic philosophy while helping students develop their understanding of the core values.
- Strive for competitive excellence while growing and building the Ice Hockey culture in our community.
- Teach players on the ice, the skills, techniques, rules, regulations, and team policies of Ice Hockey and ensure compliance of rules and regulations.
- Be responsible for the general health and welfare of student-athletes and give appropriate attention to students-athletes who are injured and or ill. This includes communicating all injuries to the Athletic Trainer.
- Partner with the Athletic Trainer to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
- Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
- Be responsible for the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under your supervision.
- Work with the DIII Head Coach on the selection and scheduling of team contests as needed.
- Work within budgetary guidelines established by the Finance department and the Director of Athletics.
- Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition (set-up and break down).
- Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
- Attend appropriate team and coaching meetings. Understand and uphold the guidelines in the coaching manual and the parent and player athletic handbook.
- Assist the Director of Athletics in any activities and events as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with coaching staff to foster a cohesive team environment and enhance players' growth both on and off the ice.
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
- 3 years of ice hockey coaching experience preferred
- Collegiate level athlete or higher preferred
- Current involvement in coaching club ice hockey preferred
