Job Title: Assistant Construction Manager
Job Location: This position will be field-based.
Primary Function:
The Assistant Construction Manager I is an entry-level position supporting an on-site Construction Manager overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned high-voltage electrical projects. Assignments typically include managing project safety, material, quality, schedule, cost control, and subcontractors.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all the following functions:
- Assist the construction manager in overseeing day-to-day field construction activities.
- Assist the construction manager in material deliveries and inventories.
- Assist the construction manager in permit tracking from various jurisdictions.
- Assist the construction manager in developing and maintaining progress reports. This includes but is not limited to daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Assist the construction manager in managing field design changes through collaboration with the customer, engineering, project management, and subcontractors.
- Assist the construction manager in field document control. This includes posting as-built red lines, RFIs, and submittal tracking.
- Assist the construction manager in implementing and executing the corporate field quality control program.
- Assist the construction manager in planning utility and/or industrial outages.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
A bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines or related fields is required: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business, Construction Science, or Construction Management.
- Interpersonal skills, technical knowledge, organizational ability, and leadership talent.
- Able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ability to negotiate and influence key decision-makers.
- Technical writing skills with an understanding of business management concepts.
- Computer proficient: familiar with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Microsoft Project and Primavera experience strongly preferred.
- This position requires travel. Candidates must be willing and able to travel and relocate after each project.
Physical Requirements:
- Work situations will require an adjusted work schedule, possibly long days, evening/weekend hours in order to meet customer requirements
- Must be able to work on feet throughout the work shift
- At times will be required to work in austere working conditions
- Be able to properly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Travel to job sites is required.
