This Opportunity
WSP is seeking an Early Career Civil Engineer for our Glastonbury, CT office. The work will involve engineering design, preparing feasibility studies, and construction support completed under the guidance of senior staff.
This successful candidate in this role will take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of roads and bridges. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
+ This position offers the opportunity to work with a large and diverse team of design engineers to address complex engineering challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities:
+ Prepare construction level drawings in InRoads or AutoCAD under the supervision of senior engineers.
+ Prepare reports and coordinate support activities, including plan production and drafting report text or comment responses.
+ Independently complete specific smaller assignments with minimal supervision and coordinate with other staff.
+ Work collaboratively with other engineers on projects.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform limited construction oversight.
+ Complete training on assigned tasks.
+ Overtime required, as needed.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
+ 0-1 years of engineering/consulting experience with a focus on civil site design.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
+ Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail.
+ Strong computer skills and organizational abilities.
+ Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Engineer in Training Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
+ Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D).
+ Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
+ A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
